If someone claimed to have a "black belt in mixed martial arts," would it be reasonable to suspect that they’re lying?

I am in Tae Kwon Do, and i am going to test for my black belt in October. I have to do 100% perfect on my forms, i have to break 3 boards with a random foot technique, 3 boards with a random hand technique, i have to write a 20 page paper on a 3 sentence membership oath, and i have to pay for a 0 plane ticket to get to the tournament (you have to test for your black belt at a national tournament that is half way across the US), along with a 0 testing fee. And if i dont pass, i have to freakin pay all the money all over again for another CHANCE of getting it. The thing is, i am 16 and i dont have alot of money. I got a job, but i get paid 5.25 an hour… and i will only work 3 days a week for a couple hours each day thanks to school. WHAT THE FREAK DO I DO I HATE MY LIFE!?!?!?!?!!?
Thanks for all the answers. But what is a McDojo? And i work for a grocery store
WHAT IS A MCDOJO?!?!

I’m looking for more objective measurements, rather than belts (not that theres anything wrong with them, i think they’re good for long term recognition but i’m talking about immediate feedback). Especially during training outside of class, how do you know you’ve practiced a technique, worked on a bag, or practiced a kata enough for the day? How do you directly measure how much your techniques have improved? Was just thinking about it and it got me curious.

I am fifteen and want to learn martial arts but I think I am to old. I also would like to know what the best kind would be to lears. I want to be able to defend myself if I ever get attacked because I am not a very big or muscular guy. Finally how long will it take me to get the highest belt if I started now.

I have a black-belt in Tae Kwon Do. I have done Krav Maga, Judo, Boxing, Kickboxing, Savate, Wrestling, and BJJ. I’m not an expert in any of the martial arts so I was wondering if I am doing the right thing by learning a few techniques from a handful of martial arts, rather than being an expert in like 2 or 3 of them. Any help?

my sister said that your not allowed to have a black belt in multiple forms so if u had a black belt in ju jitsu you couldnt have one in like tai kwan do (sry if i spelt them wrong) because once u have a black belt your considered a lethal weapon and such so ur not allowed. but then how would anyone know u are and what would they really do? thanks peoples

Imagine a Martial Arts training center that offers several different styles. Each student pays a set fee for each style they want to learn. A student has the opportunity to learn many styles. All styles would cost only per month and for rank testing below black belt or black sash. If I had the funds it would be a reality!

I am a college-age girl who would like to learn some type of martial arts fighting. I want to be able to defend myself and also have the exercise benefits of martial arts. I took karate (up to purple belt) when I was younger, but I’m not really looking for something that structured now – maybe a self defense class would be better? There are so many types of martial arts and I don’t even know where to start looking in Murfreesboro (where I live). Any suggestions would be appreciated!
