Question by laughingmybutoff: What do you think will happen, will he choose me?
Basically theres this guy, we train martial arts together and are VERY attracted to each other and extremely flirtatious. He knows I care about him and vice versa, the delema is that the martial arts center has an unspoken rule that students can’t date students but if you were to date one, it could ONLY be one, couldn’t jump around from person to person (which netiher of us would ever do). He is fearful that he would get kicked out of the training center even though I checked and found out he would not be, it would just be frowned upon. We talked bout dating and we really REALLY connect, if things did change I think it would turn into a very healthy relationship and I don’t say that about most guys at all. We have many things in common, we’re both very active, train some of the same sports (Mixed martial arts, run, hike, weight lift etc). And much, much more. I asked him to go out and do something on two different occasions, he said ok, we both were excited but then he pulled out with an excuse that could for all I know be legitimate or not (highly doubt it). We kind of are in the stage wright before dating. We even said if I didn’t train there or he didn’t, things would be different and we would date. It’s again, his fear he would get kicked out, he can’t see my side of things which is that I know he would not. becides, if someone had to leave, I’d gladly be that person. We talk, flirt, and text a lot. Its all very flirty and the emotions are very very much there. I’m at the point though where either were together or not(meaning really giving it a shot). I can’t take this middle ground, I don’t play games and this is in a way turning into one. I know we would be very good for each other, but if we dated, NO ONE could find out. He would not open his mouth but he is concerned that I might, heres the deal. I WOULD NOT. When something is bestowed in me in confidence, it STAYS in confidence. So no way people would find out from me at least. We haven’t seen each other in a while though because of different schedules, I was hoping to see him Saturday and have him meet me after at the little deli down the street and tell him this. I’d get close to him, put my hand gently on his cheek, look him in the eye, and gently kiss his other cheek. Turn and say, “Look, you really need to make a decision, either you want me or not. I won’t do this middle ground thing anymore, flirty talk etc., if you won’t be with me I need to know now. If you chose not to date me, then okay fine, I’ll respect that but know that I won’t text or call you and I don’t want you doing the same. If theres something wrong and you need to talk I’m here (I told him if he ever needed to talk I’d be here for him, he gets stressed badddd). Otherwise, we’ll see each other at training and a competitions other than that it can’t continue. I won’t give a second a chance either. I can keep my mouth shut but I’m not gonna play these games. I need to know now or by six pm tonight, if you don’t call/text me then I’m gonna assume you don’t want things to go anywhere.” Kiss his cheack and leave. There have been a few guys in the past who have decided they didn’t want to date me but later kicked themselves and came running back and I don’t take them back (guys are not from the martial arts place, diff situation). I’m tempted to tell him but if he does, I don’t give second chances. The other thing is that he has a tendency of stretching the truth and telling half the truth at times. To me that’s good as lying. Last night I called him out on it because it’s been building up and I’m really fet up with that, he said he doesn’t lie and he has no reason to so why would he. Anyways, after that we smoothed things out and I think he knows where I stand on that topic. So heres my question, will he choose being with me or will he decide not to in you’re opinion. Also, if I said this over text because I have no idea when I’ll see him (haven’t seen him in person in a while because of our schedules,) , will it make a difference you think? I just need some guidance on what to do, I want him bad but not in a desperate way. If he walks I won’t chase. Simple. So if I said this over text instead ofseeing him would it not carry enough weight or what will happen you think? Thanks!

Question by Sev: Hand to hand combat in the military?
I was curious, when or if anyone in the service practices Army Combatives or Marine Corps Mixed Martial Arts, does anyone train with gear on, like a flak jacket, LBV, ect? My LTC said that Army Combatives is not allowed to be taught to ROTC cadets…so I was curious.

it probably depends. however considering the fact that even the istruction / promotion video was shot with velcros removed, and barefoot… it should give you a hint.
@wraeth> yest they are a loss of time… as long as your company’s top wrestler considers the combatives as a way of showing dominance to rest of the company. If used properly, you /your soldiers CAN learn a thing or two there.

You should learn whatever you have access to. Brazilian jiu jitsu, I’ve heard is very good so if there is a school near you, go for it.

You need to rest your body. This is extremely important. Muscles don’t grow in the gym….

Mixed Martial Arts, also known as MMA, is a full contact combat sport where fighters use a combination of martial arts styles to achieve a submission, knock-out, or technical knock-out against an opponent. Made popular in the 1990s by the Ultimate Fighting Championships (UFC) in the United States and Pride Fighting Championships in Japan, MMA has grown in popularity and now garners audiences rivaling those of Professional Wrestling and Boxing. History of MMA MMAs history dates back to ancient times with the very similar Greek Pankration and Roman Pancratium fighting competitions. Fast forward to the 1800s, where many Boxers, Wrestlers and Jujitsu artists welcomed any and all fighting styles to compete in “no-holds barred” and “catch-wrestling” matches in Europe and North America and in Vale Tudo matches in Brazil. Similar matches were also popular in Japan and the Pacific Rim. These early Mixed Martial Arts matches evolved into two main streams as the last century progressed.
