Entry from: Melaka, Malaysia Entry Title: “Museums and computer games” Entry: “We took the bus to Melaka and checked into a nice little guesthouse built around a courtyard in the middle of China Town. We went for a walk to a hill that had the ruins of a church on the top of it. It was a Dutch church from when the Dutch colonised the area. The British later took it over and used the church to store gunpowder, so some graves in the church were engraved in English and some in Dutch. It was nice being on a hill because there was a breeze from the sea that cooled us down. We walked down the other side of the hill to the only remaining part of a fort built by the Portuguese when they ruled Melaka, a gate. There were also a few of the original fort foundations poking out of the ground. We saw the Sultanate Palace but it was closed (it was about 5pm by now) so we headed to the shopping centre and the air conditioning. When we got there David discovered that there was an amusement arcade. He has been moaning about how much he misses computer games so we spent about an hour shooting bad guys and racing cars and bikes. I even beat David on one of the races yay! Once we had finished we walked back into town to look for food. For some crazy reason all the restaurants we tried were shut, even though it was …
